i belong from Ephesians 1:4

God chose us to belong to Christ before the world was created. He chose us to be holy and without blame in his eyes. He loved us.
~Ephesians 1:4 New International Reader’s Version

and I love the coloquial way of the Wycliffe Bible translation

 as he hath chosen us in himself before the making of the world, that we were holy [as he chose us in him before the making of the world, that we should be holy], and without wem in his sight, in charity. ~Ephesians 1:4, Wycliffe Translation

What is a “Wem”?
It is a spot; scar; fault; blemish; taint;

Through God’s eyes of love toward His beloved, He sees us without yuck

There is the other side of Pain

God sees we will make it through the storms.
He knows we can handle this storm because
He sees what will be;
We just have to trust.*

When we are helpless, we are prime candidates for God to show His glory.

We have to go through the pain of working through the hard things for the beautiful and glorious to settle in.

But, Because of Grace, we do not walk the path alone. And we never appear too needy to Him.

hold on still

For each thought of pain, usher in one of Affirmation and Promise.

Then, receive…just receive. His embrace. His comfort. His Love.

God’s Timing

faith in God's timing

When I persuade myself to pursue my own “Right Now” timing needs, my  ego often does the persuading  with dangling expectations  and a willingness to “fix” the broken pieces of my life

Each time I face a “God, what’s the plan here” moment, I can know that the “but God” moment is near, where I’ll see God’s story unfolding for His glory and for His good purpose. (Jeremiah 29, Romans 8:28)

Because of Grace, The One who loved us at our darkest   gently reminds us of His Timing…His Perfect Timing

And, that we are loved and Beloved!

For the revelation awaits an appointed time;
it speaks of the end
and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it;    i
twill certainly come
and will not delay. ~Habakkuk 2:3

romans 8 38

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

Because of Grace, His infinite, unconditional love waits  and heals us of our world’s fixation on conditional consequences, performance indicators, incentives, and measurable outcomes, just to name a few.

Criticism~Continued Healing

As I continue to heal from criticism, reminders that the process is not one-stop-shopping prevail. Helping in the process and helping me to process this wonderful post from Brave Girls Club arrives in my Inbox.

Dear adored girl,

When someone mistreats us, it is so important to not allow ourselves to take it personally, to let it measure our value, to let it soak in as something we ‘deserve’ or to let it derail us when we are on the right track.

Sometimes it comes as such a surprise, such an assault and such a distraction. Whether it is a few cruel words said in a moment of heat, or whether it is years long of aggressive behavior, it is difficult to deal with! Often we let it deflate our confidence, we mull over it for days, and we even sometimes allow the mistreatment to make us feel like we must not be valuable enough to be treated with kindness.

Please do not allow the lies in, sweet friend. Please do not allow the mistreatment to go any further than the person who was delivering it. Let them keep it, for whatever reason, and do not receive it for yourself. Say kind things to yourself when it is over. Allow yourself to heal for a few minutes or a few days, and then make a promise that you will do what it takes to protect yourself from it happening again, always with love, always with truth, always with bold strength.

You are worth protecting. Your heart is worth protecting. Your soul is worth protecting.

You are so very loved, Brave Girls Club

The Secret to Happiness

The Secret to Happiness

Once upon a time, a man stood crying alone on the rooftop of his house. He was unhappy, and he cried out, “I just want to be happy.” An angel appeared to him, and offered to grant him 3 wishes over the course of his life. “Grant my wish, angel!” the man begged.

He was mourning the fact that the roof he stood upon was of a house he did not own, that his creditors beat upon his door and his wife lived in fear of furniture and vehicles being seized. The first wish the man asked for was wealth.

For a time, he was happy but then his wife fell ill and no amount of money could save her. As he wept again at her plight, the angel appeared again and offered to grant him a wish. The man wished for health, but in spite of his health and family’s being improved, over time, he realized that this did not make him happy.

He reflected long and hard on this, even writing a few blog entries, sending out a few tweets, and checking with his PLN.

Finally, one night as he suffered weariness of spirit in spite of riches, family, and perfect health, the angel appeared to him to grant his final wish, present at his unbidden request. “Angel,” the old man asked, “grant me my wish…teach me to be grateful for all that has happened and will happen in my life.” The angel made it so.

At last, the man achieved happiness.

Monday Words for the Soul~April 16~Chosen Beloved

When you feel chosen.egg on Aviary

“When you feel chosen, you create messages about yourself that are congruent with God’s truth about who you are: you are beautiful, you are special, and you are beloved.  When you are not chosen, you create distorted beliefs about yourself that are not consistent with whom God has created you to be:  I am not enough, I am not loveable, and I fall short of others.  You desire to be chosen for who you are, and yet many of you go to great lengths to be things you are not in order to be chosen.” ~Seven Desires of Every Heart by Mark and Debra Laaser

Lead with Little from becauseofgrace on Vimeo.

“Always keep your eyes open for the little task, because it is the little task that is important to Jesus Christ. The future of the kingdom of Goddoes not depend on the enthusiasm of this or that powerful person; those great ones are necessary too, but it is equally necessary to have a great number of little people who will do a little thing in the service of Christ.”  ~Albert Schweitzer

Beloved Video

Knowing the truth of your story is a powerful antidote to the shame, doubt, and the negative voices of others that have infected the story you tell yourself.  God wants you to know the truth.
Our pain often diverts us from His promise .

And we know (understand, recognize, are conscious of, by observation and by experience) and believe (adhere to and put faith in and rely on) the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him. 1 John 4:16

Just as I am… Just as we are.
Might you listen to the beautiful in the video above and keep listening until it hugs you to knowing…Loving us is not just something God does . . . LOVE IS WHAT HE IS …I John 4:16
