Joshua 1:9

On January 19, here is a favorite verse from Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Look it up and savor these words that are always true.

mid-week question~January 15~Boxes

How many miracles have I missed between the thin lines of all those neatly penciled boxes? ~Jennifer Dukes Lee in this post

Geometrically speaking, when everything is ready and boxes intersect, they transform into elegantly,  interconnected designs.

At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ ~Luke 14:17
Immediately he got up before them, and picked up what he had been lying on, and went home glorifying God. ~Luke 5:25

the ones who say you can't...

It is true, you know!

But, most importantly, how have you found this to be true?

Mid-week question of the Week~January 8~one year from today

In one year from today…

What might I deeply regret if it didn’t get done?

I saw this question in a post from Domestic Serenity. It called to me to stop and consider the pace at which I complete things and also the pace at which I disgard things and activities off of my “to-do” list. To counter-act any over active “to-do” list, I often strike-off activities at will. Whether I make my “to-do” list my idol or, alternatively, make my “to-don’t” list a savior, the result is the same: I need to count the cost.

Luke 14:28-29 (MSG) “Is there anyone here who, planning to build a new house, doesn’t first sit down and figure the cost so you’ll know if you can complete it? If you only get the foundation laid and then run out of money, you’re going to look pretty foolish.”

Finding a balance between rigid oak and driftwood is delicate and must be accompanied by prayer for discernment.

You’re either someone who makes things happen or watches things happen — or maybe you have no idea what’s happening! Those who make things happen are the people who change the world. ~Rick Warren

Monday Words for the Soul~January 6

Once you slip through the net of your own fears, there is mystery in every step.  Out here, in the open space between the “yes” and the “no” of judgment, you discover the treasure that’s been yours all along: your life is filled with grace. ~Katrina Kenison in this post

A new focus verse for the new year.

I wanted them to trust Me and obey My voice. In those early days, I told them, “I will be your God, and you will be My people. Follow Me every step of the way into a life that is good.” ~ Jeremiah 7:23

(click on the picture, if it shows up super small)

Jeremiah 7:23

I want to stay close to His Grace this year and hang on to His path.
The next verse in Jeremiah is a warning to avoid backward steps and mistakes of the past.

Choosing instead to step in footprints of grace, straining through the noise to hear His Voice of Grace and protection.

What is your focus verse for the new year?

Small Note: This picture taken on a hiking trip last week.

At the bottom of the photo, on the pink card, is my focus verse for 2013, which I left at the summit.
