Isaiah 9:2-7

2 The people walking in darkness
    have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep darkness
    a light has dawned.
You have enlarged the nation
    and increased their joy;
they rejoice before you
as people rejoice at the harvest,
as warriors rejoice
    when dividing the plunder.
For as in the day of Midian’s defeat,
    you have shattered
the yoke that burdens them,
    the bar across their shoulders,
    the rod of their oppressor.
Every warrior’s boot used in battle
and every garment rolled in blood
will be destined for burning,
will be fuel for the fire.
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the greatness of his government and peace
    there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
    and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
    with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
    will accomplish this.

2 Chronicles 29:36  “Then Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced over what God had prepared for the people, because the thing came about suddenly.”  2 Chronicles 29:36 (NASB)

Yes! Breakthroughs often arrive suddenly… wishing you many “suddenlies” in the upcoming week.

Use your time in the best way you can. ~Colossians 4:5 International Children’s Bible (ICB)

It is that time of year… email Inbox in the double digits, laundry in piles, papers too, leaves needing a rake, winterizing on the to-do list.

My to-do list, your to-do list. If I am not very intentional, then I begin to be in the service of my to-do list.

time

Colossians 4:5 addresses how to spend time with those who need The Savior. I think there are applications to general time management too.

I like the simplicity of the International Children’s Bible’s version of  Colossians 4:5: Use your time as best you can. It is much more concrete than other versions: redeeming the time (KJV), or  make the most of every opportunity (NIV).

Do the best you can, do not spend time in guilt-drama over not spending time correctly. And, because of grace, the best way is the way that brings praise and glory to Him.

Exodus 13:21-22Perfect verse for back-to-school or back-to-work:

And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night.  He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people. Exodus 13:21-22

This weekend, I’ve been thinking along the lines of me encanta, what I love. And I wondered, “what does God love?”

And His word is very clear:

For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave ~Psalms 86:12

{God says} “I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.” ~Proverbs 8:17

For I the LORD love justice. ~ Isaiah 61:8

those who act faithfully are His delight. ~Proverbs 12:22
