“As your faith is strengthened you will find that there is no longer the need to have a sense of control, that things will flow as they will, and that you will flow with them, to your great delight and benefit.” ~Emmanuel Teney

Midweek Question of the Week~Faith~October 16

Do you have faith in your faith? Or faith in God?

They sound like the same question…until you read them slowly and prayerfully consider, if perhaps there may be a difference. And it is so easy to let the distinction pass unnoticed. But what did Mark Twain said about word choice?

The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug.” ~Mark Twain

When trouble arises or when happiness settles in, do we press on because of our faith, congratulate ourselves for being faithful…or…

Do we run to The Source of all good and perfect gifts and all support in time of trouble.

Deep in your spirit you know. Now is not the time for fear. Now is the time to exercise your faith totally in Him.

Faith During Life’s Sutures

Faith is not believing in a false promise of prosperity, but in the abiding presence of Christ.

In this life, you’ve got to write it down sometimes to remember what you believe — not just in frosting, but on hearts. We believe that God has got it. All of it. This is not just a theological catch-phrase, but an actual way to habitually remember that there is a King in Heaven who holds all things together — even when life isn’t a piece of cake.

And we repeat it to ourselves, on the hot and cloudless days, and when the diagnoses come, and when we’ve gathered in hospice rooms, and over hospital beds, and in ugly days of wild uncertainty. It’s true: What we say to ourselves, and to one another, can  determine whether we will live imprisoned or free. Because dark days will come. In this world we will have trouble, but what did Jesus say? “Take heart, for I have overcome the world.” ~Jennifer Dukes Lee
