Words for the Soul ~ October 5

Just a thought as I continue to think about yesterday’s Bible Verse:

Identity is a tricky concept.

The dictionary lists two definitions:

  • 1. the fact of being who or what a person or thing is, such as “the identity of the owner”
    “he knows the identity of the students”
    ID= Identity
  • 2. a close similarity or affinity.
    “the initiative created an identity between the city and the suburbs”
    I personally do better when I keep my mind and my heart focused on who God says I am.

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.            ~2 Corinthians 4:17-18

A Second Week of Prayers~ A Prayer for My Identity

Continuing to center a second week on prayer postings.

God shapes the world by prayer. The more prayer there is in the world, the better the world will be, the mightier the forces against evil.
~E.M. Bounds

Dear God, Here I am, in awe of Your tremendous love and power. I too am persuaded that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any power, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate me from Your love that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (based on Romans 8:38-39). My identity is not in my job, my profession, nor any other thing, but in You. I am convinced that no matter what happens, I am a precious human being in Your sight and Your love, grace, and mercy will always sustain me. Thank you so much. In Jesus’ name, amen.
